I started training dogs and attending competition dog shows at 9yrs old. As an adult I professionally trained hunting dogs. Then I decided to get a Dutch Shepherd and contacted Dave to help with tracking and bite work because I was unfamiliar with the training techniques. Dave’s guidance and insights proved invaluable. Awesome experience. Each small class provided each dog and individual owners a private high intensity obedience training session geared to the dogs performance as affected by the handlers commands and actions. Dave intently focuses on training the trainer to engage the dogs drive instinct to eagerly want to do whatever's required. Although as the handler, sessions can be brutal, I always was motivated to improve so that my dog would have fun becoming more obedient. Dave's commitment to what he does is exemplary. His ready wit and quick instincts are amazing. All around a thoroughly engaging and enjoyable experience for Pania and myself. Can't wait for Spring classes to begin

Dear World,

I'm Sadie the Aussie Shepherd and I take care of my mom anddad, Susan and Douglas Brooks.  Mom and I met Dave Lepsch while I was a wee pup on an outing to Home Depot.  Suddenly there was this man who was so nice I couldn't help myself and to this day the first thing---maybe the only thing I really want to is smother him with kisses.  (Of course, I feel this way about a lot of humans, pretty much everyone so...lucky them!) Next thing you know mom and dad are taking me for obedience training where I got to meet a few other dogs and learned some really cool commands.  I get a reward if I went along with the humans and while we were only supposed to be"on the field" for an hour or two, Dave gave us so much time ,training, treats, and love.  Hours and we would come home having learned so much.  This went on for weeks and Dave really taught my parents brilliantly.  You see dog training is really human training too.  So while I was being asked again and again and taught how to sit, down, come, heal, and obey, my parents became far more skilled and capable so I was hardly ever confused.  They really know what to do now and I'm a lot better than I was as a little puppy.  Training was fun, filled with learning and so much love and commitment---I know I'm a better dog, not yet perfect except that Momma tells me so every day.  I look forward to more training because what I've learned to do now is a great foundation for what Uncle Dave is teaching next: I'm a shepherd and I love to work, to have a task, and to get lots and lots of exercise.  I plan on wearing out the humans as my training goes forward.  My parents have promised that Uncle Dave will be my trainer because he knows how to train them and they admire and respect him so much, well, they wouldn't have anyone else.  Lucky me, training with Uncle Dave Lepsch is a puppy's delight and it's making me into an even better dog.  Hey Pups!  Tell your humans to call Uncle Dave 'cause even though it's "training" you'll find out that you get even more love when you know what to do.  See you soon, Uncle Dave.***When my wife Susan first told me she met Dave Lepsch I knew that she had found the trainer we really needed for our new pup Sadie the Aussie Shepherd. Susan has a brilliant way with dogs but even more so in the assessment of human character and professionalism.  Her enthusiasm for Dave, his method and work, was clear even before we began our first level training in basic obedience and commands.  We met with Dave prepared to spend hours with us and in the company of other owners and their dogs.  Each couple received their own time and watching, learning, and experiencing how others learned from Dave and how each dog responded was especially helpful and important in our own development.  Dave's methods I am convinced apply to all dogs though hehas a particular expertise in training well-past basic obedience: tracking, protection, and working tasks are available to the most sophisticated levels and competence.  Dave is not only a consummate professional handler and trainer, he is genuinely, deeply interested in empowering us as dog owners.  He loves the dogs and his care for their well-being and our deep bonds with our companions comes through.  He spent time to come to know our Sadie and with real patience, discernment, and clarity, he was able to offer instruction, insight, and advice that we now use every single day.  Dave is a straight talker.  His candor and willingness to offer advice and correction is particularly helpful.  As a teacher I can say that Dave offers the whole of himself---he heart and soul breathes dogs and he speaks dog in English, Czech, German, and more pointedly to us, with kindness and directness in ways we deeply appreciate and admire.  Dave has so much experience and understanding, you watch him pause to take the leash from you as you start training and see your dog immediately become more wonderful: obedient, playful, and on her marks.  Dave will whisper, raise his voice when it's important ,and show you how you can understand your dog's needs and desires.  He wants your dog to feel safe and for you to know how to keep your dog safe.  He wants your dog to be obedient and flawlessly on game while making it fun and enjoyable for all.  This guy knows his business. We dallied with a few other trainers trying to find the right fit for ourselves and for Sadie---and with Dave Lepsch we hit the jackpot.  We feel fortunate and appreciative to Dave and Shelley who make this business of training your dog a real pleasure.  The results speak for themselves but the relationship that Dave will create with your dog, with you, with the entire experience is genuinely amazing.
